First Trip to Arizona

On May 22, Madeline had her first plane ride when the two of us flew to Phoenix for a two week visit with my family.  Nate took this picture as he saw us off at the airport.  Maddie was already looking around, ready to go!

Maddie was a great traveler.  She loved observing everything in the airport and everyone loved her.  I got tons of comments about how cute she was and a few people offered to hold her during the plane ride when I was trying to get adjusted.  Madeline had no problem going to them with a smile.  She nursed well during the trip and had good naps.  So it was a good experience for both of us!

My mom and Aunt Carrie greeted us at the airport and were so excited to see Madeline (and me, I guess)!  We got to introduce Maddie to her great-grandparents that night.  She is their 6th great.

One morning, we got a professional photographer to get pictures of Maddie with her 3 cousins.  Here are a few favorites.  Thank you, Monika Cheang Photography, for the fun pictures!

Reid, Maddie, Ashlyn and Beau

Maddie's cousins were very excited to meet her.  Ashlyn loved holding her, Reid liked to sweetly kiss the top of her head, and Beau learned to gentle pat Baby's back!

We had lots of fun family get-togethers so that Maddie could meet everyone.

Madeline also had her first dip in the pool during our trip.  She seemed to really like it.  She didn't cry or actually make any noise at all.  Her natural body temperature is warm, so I think she found the pool to be very refreshing.

We spent one fun morning at the mall catching up with my friend, Kirstin, and her 3 kids.  Here is a picture of us with Kirstin and her little 2 month old daughter.  It was great to meet her little girl and see how much her two sweet boys had grown.

Since I can't resist, here are a few more cute pictures of little Maddie!

On our last night in town, Maddie fell asleep and I put her in my grandmother's arms.  Since she is normally so squirmy, my grandmother really enjoyed holding her while she was so still and peaceful.  I think it was her favorite part of our visit!

Overall, Madeline and I had a great time relaxing and visiting with lots of family.  It was a nice change of scenery.  Maddie started to get fussy during our last few days in Phoenix, so I think she was ready to get home and see her daddy.  Thankfully, she did great on the two flights back home.  Unfortunately, her fussiness has continued in the evenings.  I think she's teething, so hopefully the teeth break through soon!
