The three of us flew to California at the end of July to meet up with my family in Laguna Beach. There were 22 of us this year in rentals all on the same block. Everyone loved seeing Maddie again or meeting her for the first time. It was great to have a week of family time.

Maddie only made it to the beach a few times during our week there. She didn't really like the feel of the sand and she was not content sitting on a towel in the shade. She was already crawling and pulling up and the beach was not the place for that!

Plus, Maddie spent most of her time napping, so Nate and I spent a lot of time watching the Olympics in our nice studio apartment or walking around town.
We had a red-eye flight back to DC, so we spent our last day in Long Beach at the Queen Mary museum. We had a behind-the-scenes tour, a ghost tour, tickets to the Princess Diana special exhibit and explored on our own around the ship. Madeline was a great tourist in her Baby Bjorn! I think it wore her out enough - she slept the entire flight home!
